How to Add Live Content

Learn how to add live content on Maestro.

Before we get started, please note that these instructions are specifically for live content that is NOT being streamed directly to Maestro. Please refer to the dedicated article if you plan to stream to Maestro via an RTMP URL and Stream Key.

To add live content from outside of Maestro to your Live Channels, please follow the steps below.

From the live channel where you'd like the live content to play, click the "Content" button on the admin tool bar.

Schedule Content:

The scheduled video will play at the scheduled time for the duration set on the video (this is set when the video is added to the library). This content will appear to viewers as Live Content. When the duration is up, the channel will default back to the Offline state.

With that said, you can follow these steps to create scheduled content:

  1. Click "Schedule Video" under "Scheduled This Week"
  2. Select the live video you'd like to use using the plus sign from your Library, or click "Add Video" in the top right
  3. Set the "Start Day/Time"
  4. Select if you’d like your video to repeat and how frequently (i.e.,Weekly, Daily)
  5. Click "Add"
  6. Click "Save" and "Publish" to push changes live

For more information on Scheduling Content, please see our dedicated guide.

Add a Twitch Livestream:

This section works for Twitch live videos only. Using Twitch's API, Maestro detects when the stream is live and automatically switches to the live video, and when the stream goes offline it automatically switches back to the Offline content.

Here's how it works:

  1. Click "Add Live Stream" under the "Twitch Live Streams" section
  2. Select a Twitch video from the library or click "Add Video" to add a new video. You must use a twitch.tv URL.
  3. Once the video is added, click "Save" and "Publish" to push changes live

Add Live Video to TV Mode:

Adding a video in TV mode will keep that video active when it is both live and offline. When the video goes live from the source, it will appear on Maestro, and when it goes offline, the offline slate added to the video will appear as well.

Follow these steps to add live video to TV mode:

  1. Click "TV" in the top right corner of the Offline section
  2. Click "Add Video" or "Add Playlist"
    • Note: If you already have a video added you’ll click "Change Video," and similarly, if you already have a playlist selected, you’ll click "Change Playlist"
  3. Select video from "Library" using the plus sign or click "Add Video"
  4. Click "Save" and "Publish" to push changes live
